Activation of BAD and translocation to mitochondria The switching on/off of its phosphorylation by growth/survival factors regulates BAD activity. BAD remains sequestered by 14-3-3 scaffold proteins after phosphorylation by Akt1. Calcineurin activates BAD by dephosphorylation.
