AMPK(AMP激活蛋白激酶)是细胞能量水平的传感器。高细胞AMP:ATP比率触发AMPK的磷酸化和激活。激活的AMPK随后磷酸化一系列靶蛋白,如图(改编自Hardie等人2003年,经D.G. Hardie许可)所示。这些靶蛋白包括ChREBP(碳水化合物反应元件结合蛋白),其磷酸化抑制降低了糖酵解和脂生途径关键酶的转录。

AMPK inhibits chREBP transcriptional activation activity AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) is a sensor of cellular energy levels. A high cellular ratio of AMP:ATP triggers the phosphorylation and activation of AMPK. Activated AMPK in turn phosphorylates a wide array of target proteins, as shown in the figure below (reproduced from (Hardie et al. 2003), with the permission of D.G. Hardie). These targets include ChREBP (Carbohydrate Response Element Binding Protein), whose inactivation by phosphorylation reduces transcription of key enzymes of the glycolytic and lipogenic pathways.
