硒代半胱氨酸是第 21 种遗传编码的氨基酸,是人体体内硒这种抗氧化微量元素的主要形式。在真核生物和古菌中,其合成通过 tRNA 依赖的方式,经过磷酸化中间体进行。硒代半胱氨酸形成的最终步骤由 O-磷酸半胱氨酰-tRNA:硒代半胱氨酸氨酰-tRNA 合成酶 (SEPSECS) 催化,将磷酸半胱氨酰-tRNA(Sec) 转化为硒代半胱氨酰-tRNA(Sec)。

Selenocysteine synthesis Selenocysteine, the 21st genetically encoded amino acid, is the major form of the antioxidant trace element selenium in the human body. In eukaryotes and archaea its synthesis proceeds through a phosphorylated intermediate in a tRNA-dependent fashion. The final step of selenocysteine formation is catalyzed by O-phosphoseryl-tRNA:selenocysteinyl-tRNA synthase (SEPSECS) that converts phosphoseryl-tRNA(Sec) to selenocysteinyl-tRNA(Sec).
