SUMO 酰基化过程本身可以通过 SUMO 酰基化进行调控（综述：Wilkinson 和 Henley, 2010）。SUMO E3 连接酶 PIAS4、RANBP2 和 TOPORS 以及单分子 SUMO E2 酶 UBE2I（UBC9）被 SUMO 酰基化。SUMO 酰基化影响 PIAS4 和 TOPORS 的亚细胞定位，并影响 PIAS4 和 UBE2I 的活性。

SUMOylation of SUMOylation proteins SUMOylation processes themselves can be controlled by SUMOylation (reviewed in Wilkinson and Henley 2010). The SUMO E3 ligases PIAS4, RANBP2, and TOPORS are SUMOylated, as is the single SUMO E2 enzyme, UBE2I (UBC9). SUMOylation affects the subcellular location of PIAS4 and TOPORS and affects the activity of PIAS4 and UBE2I.
