糖酵解的限速步骤是磷酸化D-果糖6-磷酸(Fru(6)P)形成D-果糖1,6-二磷酸,由磷酸果糖激酶1(PFK)四聚体催化。PFK可以通过这里标注的反应被D-果糖2,6-二磷酸可逆性激活,其水平在胰岛素信号反应中增加,在胰高血糖素信号反应中减少(Pilkis等人,1995)。

Regulation of glycolysis by fructose 2,6-bisphosphate metabolism The committed step of glycolysis is the phosphorylation of D-fructose 6-phosphate (Fru(6)P) to form D-fructose 1,6-bisphosphate, catalyzed by phosphofructokinase 1 (PFK) tetramer. PFK can be allosterically activated by D-fructose 2,6-bisphosphate whose levels are increased in response to insulin signaling and decreased in response to glucagon signaling, through the reactions annotated here (Pilkis et al. 1995).
