Regulation of PD-L1(CD274) translation The synthesis of PD-L1 (CD274) protein from its mRNA under various physiological and pathological conditions is tightly regulated by microRNAs (miRNAs) that bind to the 3' untranslated region (3' UTR) of PD-L1 mRNA, influencing its stability and translation efficiency (Skafi et al., 2020, Wang et al., 2017). For example, miR 34a and miR 200 directly target PD L1 mRNA, leading to decreased protein synthesis, which is important in controlling autoimmune response in normal physiological conditions and immune escape mechanisms in cancer (Danbaran et al., 2020, Kao et al., 2017, Grenda et al., 2017). The translation regulation of PD-L1 is a critical area of research, particularly in the context of cancer and other diseases where PD-L1 is implicated in pathology (Zhou et al., 2023, Ashrafizadeh et al., 2020).
