利用来自血红素化合物的铁代表肠道细菌在铁限制环境中的一种替代铁摄取机制(Law等人,1992;综述于Caza和Kronstadt,2013)。SPATE类型的细胞外丝氨酸蛋白酶(EspC,Hbp)切割宿主血红蛋白,释放游离血红素,该血红素通过TonB依赖性受体导入;血红素与内质网中的结合蛋白结合后,使ABC转运蛋白DppBCDF介导的胞质导入成为可能(综述于Wandersman和Delepelaire,2012;Brewitz等人,2016;Li等人,2024)。

Heme assimilation The ability to use iron derived from heme compounds represents an alternative iron uptake mechanism for enterobacteria growing in an iron-limited environment (Law et al., 1992; reviewed in Caza & Kronstadt, 2013). Extracellular serine proteases of SPATE type (EspC, Hbp) cleave host hemoglobin, releasing free heme, which is imported by TonB-dependent receptors; binding of heme to a binding protein in the periplasm then enables cytosolic import by the ABC transporter DppBCDF (reviewed in Wandersman & Delepelaire, 2012; Brewitz et al., 2016; Li et al., 2024).
