ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling uses energy from ATP hydrolysis via SWI/SNF, ISWI, CHD, and INO80 family complexes to reposition or eject nucleosomes exposing DNA for transcription factor binding; mutations in SWI/SNF components are among the most frequent alterations in human cancers.
